Check Lists ~ You Gotta Have 'Em

(Print this out and use it to help plan your special day!)

 

 8-12 Months: 
- Discuss your expectations of your ceremony -reception
- Set the ceremony date
- Plan the location for the ceremony and reception
- Make a budget
- Make a guest list
- Announce your plans to friends and family, let those who may be in the dark know that you're gay or lesbian
- Secure the services of clergy or Justice of
the Peace
- Think about clothing options
- Contact companies and get 3 quotes for :
Locations, Caterers
Florists, Musicians/ DJ
Photographers
 3-4 Months:
- Make final arrangements with vendors
- Meet with officiant to work on ceremony
- Schedule hair appointments
- Send invitations with RSVP
- Order your cake
- Buy or make rental arrangements for attire
- Record gifts for thank you notes
- Choose transportation including: limousines, air, car rentals, horse and buggy...

 2-3 weeks:
- Confirm all services, prepare payments for vendors
- Prepare reception seating plan
- Pick up attire and make final alterations if necessary
- Attend rehearsal
- Present gifts to attendants
- Pack honeymoon gear

 5-4 Months:
- Choose attendants
- Purchase invitations & thank you notes
- Shop for rings
- Shop for wedding cake
- Arrange for the location
- Reserve rental equipment
- Choose attire
- Choose favors for guests
- Make food arrangements
- Apply for gift registries
- Discuss honeymoon
- Schedule rehearsal dinner
 1 Month: 
- Do final attire fittings
- Finalize schedule for rehearsal dinner
- Finalize ceremony
- Finalize honeymoon plans
- Give song list to the DJ or band
- Go over shot requests with photographer
- Have final consultation with caterer
- Work on announcement that will be mailed to the press after the wedding
- Arrange accommodations for guests
- Buy gifts for attendants and each other
- Buy guest book, birdseed to throw, etc.
- Talk through the day and list potential problems
- Select a trusted friend as a contact person to handle problems that arise
- Call guests who didn't RSVP
 The Final Check List: 
- Rehearse the ceremony vows together
- Put valuables (i.e. wallet, vows and
contracts) in a safe place
- Neatly lay out all clothing
- Set a VERY LOUD alarm clock to wake you up (being late for your own wedding- now there's BAD drama!)
